Obituary for Joe Dorsett Burton Joe Dorsett Burton was born to Patsy Jo Thomas and Joe Dorsett Reeme, September 18, 1950 in Wichita Falls, TX. In his childhood his mother moved with Joe D. to La Porte where he rode out Hurricane Carla. He excelled in many sports, which led to him being recognized for his accomplishments as quarterback for La Porte High School in addition to his outstanding performances in basketball and track. He graduated from La Porte High School in the class of 1970. On May 27, 1978 he married his best friend and soul mate Theresa (Tere) Ann Thrower. They had 42 wonderful years of marriage and were blessed with one beautiful and amazing daughter, Theresa Jo Burton. He worked thirty years at what is now Covestro in Baytown to support his wife and daughter and make their dreams come true. On March 19, 2021 he lost a long battle with COPD. He is preceded in death by his mother Patsy Jo McLeaish and husband John E McLeaish, and sister Carol Able. He is survived by wife Tere Burton, daughter Theresa Jo Burton and husband Aaron Kirby, granddaughter Eleanor Jo Kirby, his uncle Tommy Thomas and wife Betsy, cousin Julee Johnson and husband Colin, second cousins Claire and Brett, cousin John Thomas and wife Armine and second cousins Cameron, cousin Sara Woolf and husband Brian Woof and second cousins Charlie and Beau. Joe D. was an avid animal lover and rescuer. The pets he left behind include Billie Bay Burton the Bay Dog, cats Ophelia Marie, Callaway, Zorro, and a cockatiel named Sydney. A memorial service is planned for April 17, 2021 at 6:30 pm by the bay, at Seascape Park* located at the end of Bay Club Drive, in the Seascape subdivision. Seascape is located off Todville Road in Seabrook, Texas, 77586. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Joe D's name to any one of the following charities: American Lung Association American Heart Association Heifer International SPCA World Wildlife Fund The Sierra Club Greenpeace *Since we will be down by the bay, please wear comfortable clothes and shoes you don't mind getting dirty.
