Obituary of Cheryl Lynn Nichols

Please share a memory of Cheryl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Cheryl Lynn Nichols, the beloved wife of Dawud T. Alexander, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. Dawud, along with Cheryl’s entire family are shocked and deeply saddened. Cheryl was born in Ruston, LA on November 21, 1961, to Vertia B Nichols-Wright and Ernest James Nichols. She was raised in Los Angeles, CA where she attended and graduated from Dorsey High School in 1979. In high school, she excelled at volleyball, modeling, and acting receiving numerous awards for her talent and skill. She furthered her education by obtaining a certificate in x-ray technology from Abram Friedman Occupational Center in Los Angeles. After working in the medical field, Cheryl moved to Philadelphia, PA where she found both her true love and her true passion. While working in Philadelphia as an Optical Assistant she met her soulmate, Dawud. From the very beginning, they both knew it was true love. They moved in together and Dawud worked to help Cheryl become a Certified Nursing Assistant and ultimately a Licensed Vocational Nurse. This vocation would prove to be her true calling. She was known as a gifted nurse and caregiver who was loved by all of her co-workers and patients. Cheryl had many interests such as drawing, fashion design, and music but most of her time when she was not caring for patients she could always be found with the love of her life, her partner, Dawud. They would enjoy fishing, boating, RV’ing, taking care of their dogs, cruising in their limo, or singing karaoke in their home studio. Anyone who knew Cheryl knew her as a loving, warm, funny, and caring person who would light up any room and liven up any party. She was always a source of positivity and never met a stranger. Everyone was her friend. She lived and loved life to the fullest. Her family and friends will miss her more than words can say. Cheryl is preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents. She is survived by her husband, Dawud T. Alexander, her mother, her father, her brother, James Michael Nichols (Sylvia), and sisters Pamela Elaine Nichols and Anita Nichols.
