Catherine Ann Godfrey was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on March 24th, 1955. She was then adopted by her loving parents, James and Marie Connelly. They lived in Wichita Falls, Texas and Ardmore, Oklahoma until she was about 5 years old. The young family then made the move to Houston, Texas where James worked as a geologist in the booming oil industry. Her parents were active socially and were very involved in their churches. Cathy was an active Girl Scout and Rainbow Girl. She enjoyed vacations, holidays, and gatherings with family and friends. They lived in Marilyn estates of Houston, Texas. Cathy was the first student to register at Kolter Elementary, she was quite proud of that. She attended Albert Sidney Johnston Junior High. In 1973, Cathy graduated from Westbury high school. In her adult life, Cathy held many titles. She worked at a place called Quick-Tix in downtown Houston for several years. Other titles included, night stocker, cashier, veterinary technician, ceramic artist, crafter, seamstress, volunteer, babysitter, and most importantly, mother. Cathy was talented in music and arts. She was an avid reader and always kept a library at home. She was clever and could do anything she put her mind to. Cathy was giving and gracious and full of love for people and all of God’s creatures. On May 20th, 1978, she gave birth to a daughter, Valkyrie Michele Schuenemann. Then on August 21st, 1981, another daughter, Zella Marie Schuenemann. She met her husband, Dixie Ross Godfrey, in 1991, and it was love at first sight. They first lived in Houston and then in Rosharon, Texas. They adopted their granddaughter, Angel Marise Connelly, who was born January 15th, 2000. They moved to Ardmore, Oklahoma, followed by Midlothian, Texas, and were married on November 19th, 2010 at St. Thomas of Canterbury R. E. Church in Pearland, Texas. Shortly after, the family relocated to Alvin, Texas. She struggled with many health issues in her later years. On May 23rd, 2021, she suffered cardiac arrest and passed away in Jennie Sealy hospital in Galveston, Texas. Cathy was preceded in death by her parents, James and Marie Connelly, her daughter, Valkyrie Michele Schuenemann and her husband, Dixie Ross Godfrey. She is survived by her daughters, Zella Marie Wheeler and Angel Marise Connelly, as well as granddaughter Haylie Rayne Schuenemann and grandson Nicholas James Wheeler, and so many more to whom she was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Cathy touched the lives and hearts of many and came to love almost anyone she met. She had friends all over the world and was dearly loved.
