Obituary of Andrew "Buck" Crate Jr.

Andrew “Buck” Crate, 77, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021. He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Sr. and Kitty Hicks Crate. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, of 52 years, Judith Crate; son Andy Crate III and wife, Erika; daughter Karen Caviedes; brothers Jim Crate, John Crate; grandchildren Hunter, Andrew, Ethan, Sophia, Eva, Victoria, Josh, Delaney, Ethan B., great- grandchild Jace, and a host of other dear family and friends. Buck was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather that cherished his family. He loved attending and cheering on his children and grandchildren at all their sporting events. Buck was a skilled carpenter and loved making things for his family and friends. He was blessed to have lived next door to his best friend for about 50 years, Fred Beck. Buck had an outgoing personality, and he never met a stranger. Buck served his country in the U.S. Army. He loved going on hunting trips with his friends and having his morning coffee at the local coffee shop. Buck will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. A Celebration of Life service will be held for Buck on Saturday, June 5th, at 11:00 am, with D.J. Dickerson officiating, at Clayton Funeral Home, 201 S. 3rd Street, La Porte, Texas.
