Roy Delbert Eiland, 78, passed away November 25, 2010. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Amie Eiland; and brother, Charles V. Eiland, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Irene Eiland; sons, Rodney D. Eiland and wife Susan, and Richard L. Walker and wife, Barbara; daughters, Cathy Martin, Sharon Cheney and husband, Bob, and Linda D. Dicken and husband, Wesley; sister, Shirley Culpepper and husband, Ipo; twenty seven grandchildren; twenty two great grandchildren; and a host of many other family and friends.
Roy worked for Hitachi for 17 years and also Elcen Metals for many years before he retired. He loved helping people throughout his life. Roy was very active with his church and took pride in assisting with the maintenance of the facility. His favorite project was “Roy’s Barn”, which he spent countless hours working on. It was there that Roy enjoyed working on little projects for the home or church. If he didn’t have the tool to fix it, he just made one instead. He was affectionately referred to as “Grand Pa Pa” by his grandchildren and cherished the times he got to spend with them during family gatherings. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
