Obituary of Janey Terry

Please share a memory of Janey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Linda “Janey” Terry, 67, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021. She is preceded in death by her father Albert Finch Sr., and her mother Ila Belle Finch. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 47 years, John D. Terry; daughter Amy Mynderse and husband, Thor; brothers Albert Finch Jr., Mickey Finch and wife, Becky; grandchildren Leah Ashley Mynderse and Allison Kate Mynderse; dear friend and trusted caregiver Nomecio Williams, and a host of many other family and friends. Janey was born on October 5, 1953, to Al and Ila Finch in Houston, Texas. She was raised in Houston along with two brothers, Al Jr, and Mickey. Janey graduated from Lamar High School and then Houston Baptist University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and history. Janey later earned an MBA from the University of Houston. She had a successful career in banking until she opted to become a stay-at-home mom to her daughter. Janey loved to travel with her husband, JD. They traveled to many European cities multiple times and enjoyed them immensely. They also visited multiple Caribbean destinations, as well as Alaska and Hawaii. Janey’s favorite place on earth was Hawaii. She and JD were blessed to have made five trips there, visiting most of the major islands, but her favorite of all was Maui. Janey was an avid scuba diver for several years, until her health deteriorated to the point where it was no longer feasible for her. She dove all over the Caribbean, including Grand Cayman, Bonaire, and Cozumel. Over the course of her 47-year marriage to JD, they lived in Baytown and Spring, Texas, Morristown, New Jersey, and Fairfax, Virginia, then moved to Pearland before the birth of their first grandchild. During their stay in New Jersey, Janey loved attending Broadway shows in the city with her husband, and she especially enjoyed the experience of actually having four seasons. While in Fairfax, Virginia, Janey enjoyed weekend wine tasting and picnicking trips with JD through the beautiful Virginia countryside. Janey suffered from Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus for over 50 years. Despite many joint replacement surgeries, and all the pain she endured, she was always upbeat and cheerful. Janey was an immensely proud mother and grandmother to her brilliant daughter, Amy Mynderse, MD, her husband, Thor, and her granddaughters Leah and Alli. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
