Rev. Leon Foreman Sr. passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021. He is preceded in death by his father, R.P. Foreman; mother, Flosetta McDaniel; brothers Curtis McDaniel, Marska "Sky" McDaniel; and sister Marietta "Peaches" McDaniel. Left to cherish Leon's memory are his loving wife, of 49 years, Katherine Foreman; Son Dr. Leon Foreman; daughter Dr. Rachel Foreman; his Stepdad, Rev. Marion McDaniel, brothers Harold F. McDaniel, Murry McDaniel, Willie James McDaniel, Martin "Markie" McDaniel, Hoshea McDaniel, Robert Foreman, Lindsey Foreman, Michael Foreman, Gary Foreman; sisters Rev. Dr. Emma Gene Rowry, Marion Leggett, and a host of many other nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Leon proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He obtained the rank of Sgt. 66th MP Co., during his service. Leon received the Army 1970 Commendation medal. He was also highly educated. Leon received two bachelor's degrees in Education and History. He then went on to earn two master's degrees in Psychology and Education Administration. Leon earned his Doctoral Candidacy at Texas Southern University. His professional achievements were many. He was a teacher and assistant principal at Woodson Middle School, an assistant principal at J.D. Ryan Middle School, a grade-level principal at Jones High School, and an assistant principal at Jack Yates High School. During his career, Leon also worked as a psychologist at MHMRA in Houston, Texas, a counselor with the Alternative Drug Abuse Program, and in business management at Sears and Roebuck, Co. Leon's pastorship service included associate pastor at Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, and Reverend at a Baptist Church. In his younger years, Leon was extremely athletic. He excelled in football, basketball, track, baseball, and skiing. Leon was a loving, wise, and devoted husband and father who cherished his family. He was extremely thoughtful. He always had flowers for his wife, in her favorite colors, on their anniversary. Each year at Christmas, Leon loved to decorate the house, and he not only bought gifts for his children, but for his neighbor's kids as well. Leon was also fun loving, he enjoyed joking, singing and he loved to dance. Leon enjoyed reading and pondering scripture. He gave wise advice, council, and instruction with love. Leon was very protective of his family, he would drive, walk, and wade through flood water for them. Leon also loved his horse, "Scotty" High Sky, Jr. and his beloved dog, Solomon. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
