Deborah “Debbie” Rutherford Clunie, 62, passed away on December 3, 2010. She is survived by her parents, Albert and Marjorie Rutherford; her loving husband of 40 years, Tom Clunie; daughters, Sarah Clunie and Amy Clunie; brothers, John Rutherford and wife, Katy, Albert Rutherford and wife, Debbie; sister, Becky Dacey; and a host of many other family and friends. Debbie graduated from Bayley-Ellard High School in Madison, New Jersey and attended Quincy University. She loved art and anything associated with the arts. Calligraphy became her first commercial artistic adventure. She later developed an appreciation for folk art and woodcarving that would serve as a life long passion. Debbie had her own business, “Unique Touch,” where she designed and produced her own one of a kind folk art pieces. She served as a Brooks Bazaar Member which hosted a Christmas Market for many years. Debbie was a wonderful sister, wife and mother who always focused on taking care of others. She took an active role in her daughters’ school activities. While Sarah was growing up, Debbie served as a Drill Team Leader for the Falconettes and the Starlettes. She also served as “Team Mom” for many of Amy’s sports. Debbie always had a servant’s heart becoming involved in “Crossroads,” an organization developed to assist the homeless. She had a listener’s ear for any seeking her thoughts and wisdom. She was a friend to all and would always be available to listen or lend a hand to those in need. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. And don’t forget, she “always” won at Bunko. Visitation for Debbie will be Thursday, December 9, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm at Clayton Funeral Home. A Liturgy of the Word will be held on Friday, December 10, 2010 at 1 pm with Father Jim Courville officiating at Clayton Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Debbie’s honor to “Crossroads at Park Place, Inc.” (a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization) at 3827 Broadway Blvd, Houston, TX 77017.
