Obituary of Teresa Brashear McCanless

Teresa McCanless, 65, passed away Sunday October 10, 2021. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence Wesley Brashear and Wanda Gordon Brashear, and son Joshua McCanless. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Matthew Miehle; sons Nick McCanless and wife Heather, Zachary McCanless, and Matthew Ross Miehle; daughters Savanah Owens and husband Caleb, Ashley Lorilla and husband Rick, Heidi Vance and husband Zach; sister Melissa Fisher; grandchildren Brittany, Colt, Eli, Seth, Caradee, Luke, Broden, Ivan, Ella, Tanner, and Charles, and many other friends and family. Teresa was born May 4th, 1956, in Corsicana Texas and moved to LaPorte at the age of six. She attended LaPorte Schools and was a graduate of the class of 1974. Teresa worked in the Transportation Department of LaPorte ISD while her boys were attending school. In 2003 Teresa became Co-Owner of Customs House Brokers, Potts, McCanless & McCanless, where she worked till her retirement in 2019. In June of 2018 she married Matthew Miehle. Teresa was known as a person who loved hard and gave her all to anyone that needed anything, even if it was just to sit and share a cup of coffee and a conversation. She always put her family and friends first before meeting her own needs. She was very active in the community. She volunteered in the LaPorte Livestock Show, Pasadena Livestock Show and Rodeo, Strawberry Festival, and the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Teresa enjoyed camping, and fishing throughout her life, especially with her family and friends. Upon her retirement in 2019 Teresa secured a lot on Lake Livingston, where she planned to relax and enjoy her retirement, which she did for the last two years. She will be missed by all who loved and knew her. Services for Teresa will be: Visitation Wednesday October 13, from 6-8 pm at the Clayton Funeral Home Chapel 201 S 3rd St. LaPorte. Service Thursday October 14, at the Bayshore Baptist Church, 11315 Spencer Hwy, LaPorte. Interment will follow at the LaPorte Cemetery.
