George (Granny) Rodriguez 72 passed away November 17. He was proceeded in death by his parents; Rafael and Luz Rodriguez, brother; Rodolfo Rodriguez. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife Cynthia, sons; Higinio Garcia and wife Lourdes, Rafael Rodriguez and wife Mai Ling, daughter; Rachel Gomez and husband Lorenzo, brothers, Santos Rodriguez, Jose Luis Rodriguez, and Jesus Rodriguez, sisters; Maria Elva Hildalgo, Dolores Contreras, Lucy Ortega, and Rosie Ruiz, grandchildren; Xylia, Aline, Amadeo, Emilio, Emily, Christian, Mia, Sofia, and Tai, and a host of other family and friends.
George was known as a man with a good sense of humor, who loved a good laugh. He loved making others laugh with his quick wit. He was a family man who loved his wife and kids and adored his grandkids. His family says was the best father- in - law a man could be. George loved trips with his wife and family get togethers, those were his happy times. George was a great cook and loved cooking for his family and friends.
George was very involved at his church St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Laporte. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Eucharistic Minister, cooked breakfast for the parishioners and for bazars.
George was a pipe fitter by trade but was also known as a jack of all trades. If he put his mind to it, he could do it. He was Golden Glove boxer in his younger days and was said to have the strongest hands. In his spare time, he loved watching old Western/Cowboy movies. George will be missed by all who loved and knew him.
Visitation for George will be Monday November 22 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, at the Clayton Funeral Home Chapel 201 S 3rd St. LaPorte, TX A Funeral mass will be Tuesday November 23 at 10:00 am at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 816 Park Dr. LaPorte, TX
