Obituary of Kathleen Kitty Hollinger

Kathleen “Kitty” Hollinger passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents Harold and Virginia Keith; and brother John Keith. Left to cherish her memory are her son Jeff Hollinger and wife, Laurie; daughter Cindy Cassity and husband, Walter; sister-in-law Novie Keith; grandchildren Ginny Hollinger, Kenneth Hollinger, Dylan Cassity, Jacob Clayton, Brooke Cassity, and a host of other dear family and friends. Kitty was a loving and strong-willed woman who loved being surrounded by family and friends. Her smile could light up the room. Kitty enjoyed daily devotionals with her daughter, Cindy, and was most happy at church and reading from her Bible. She worked for many years as an elementary school teacher, and she also had an unconditional love for dogs. Kitty fostered and took care of many dogs throughout her life, often fostering and adopting them. Her family always joked that they knew how to find her. Kitty felt her purpose in life was to advocate for those most vulnerable; whether it was dogs that needed homes or children she taught that needed someone to believe in them. Kitty loved nature, she especially loved wildflowers, the Colorado mountains, and drives to the beach. Oklahoma University was in her blood. Her family had strong ties to the school and Kitty loved watching games any time they were playing. Crimson and cream flowed in her veins. Kitty loved to go on motorcycle rides with her son, Jeff. She also loved to sit in her garden in the backyard and build fires in her fireplace. Kitty loved going on walks and swimming when she could. She loved to sketch, draw, and paint, especially mountain scenes. When Kitty dressed up, she always put on some turquoise jewelry. Turquoise symbolizes friendship which Kitty had many, many friends both close and far. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In Lieu of flowers, Kitty's family requests that donations be made in her name to the Homeless and Orphaned Pets Endeavor (HOPE). Services for Kitty will be held on Sunday, February 27, 2022, at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 West Broadway, Pearland, Texas. Visitation is scheduled from 2:00 – 3:00 pm. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm, with pastor Howard Agnew officiating.
