Obituary of Audrey Mae Williamson
Please share a memory of Audrey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Audrey Mae Williamson, 89, passed away on Monday, February 28, 2022. She is preceded in death by parents, Albert and Mattie Drake; loving husband, Ned Edwin Williamson; daughter, Phyllis Bowers; brothers James Drake, and George Drake, sisters Macle Clark and Doris Netterville. Left to cherish her memory are sister-in-law Louise Drake; her son Ed Williamson and wife, Donna; grandchildren, Michael Bowers and wife, Marilynn, Mattie Novosad and husband, Nik, Seth Williamson, along with Elizabeth Fischer, Greg Caldwell and a host of other family and friends.
Audrey was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who cherished her family. She married the love of her life, Ned Williamson, on April 20, 1956. They spent 63 wonderful years together. Audrey was extremely proud of her grandchildren and when they came to visit, she gave them her undivided attention. Whether it was playing games, working a puzzle, or just sitting to watch TV she was willing to do whatever they wanted to do.
Audrey loved the Christmas season. When it was time to decorate, the Christmas albums were stacked on the stereo so you could “get in the mood” for decorating the house for the holidays.
She was a very good cook and she always made sure no one was hungry while they were at her home. There was always something sweet on the table and something hot on the stove, and always, always, a hot pot of coffee.
Audrey loved to be outside. Her yard was always full of flowers: lilies, azaleas, roses, gladiolas and irises, as well as orange, apple, peach and persimmon trees, just to name a few.
She had a special place in her heart for animals, and she would feed and care for anything that came around, like orphaned squirrels, birds, and rabbits. She loved the many dogs and cats she had over the years, but her dog Ginger was the most special to her because she kept Audrey company after Ned was gone. They spent many hours together sitting on the back porch, with Audrey drinking coffee and Ginger curled up beside her.
Once she moved to the nursing home she could always be found on the patio or in the courtyard enjoying her coffee and letting the gardener know which flowers or plants needed to be tended to.
She was a special woman, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
