Obituary of Sheila Darlene Bragg

Sheila Darlene Bragg, 65, passed away Friday, March 4, 2022. She was born in Wilmington, North Carolina on June 7, 1956, to William and Rachel Bland. Sheila grew up in Wilmington and graduated from Hoggard High School. She loved music and it was always a big part of her life. From a very young age Sheila learned to play the piano and guitar and could strum just about any song she heard by ear. She also enjoyed singing and had the voice of an angel. Sheila met the love of her life, David Allen Bragg, in March of 1975 and eight months later they were married. They were blessed with 46 wonderful years together. She and David had two children together, and Sheila gained a stepson and stepdaughter. They moved to Texas in the spring of 1976 and, soon after, Sheila began her career with the City of Alvin. She retired from the city after 27 years of service. Sheila loved animals almost as much as she loved music; she was especially fond of her cats. Sheila was a gentle soul and had so much love in her heart. She was proud of her faith and unashamed of her love for Jesus. Sheila once said when she gets to Heaven, she hopes she will get to take care of all the animals up there. In her spare time, Sheila enjoyed reading John Grisham books. Sheila adored her grandbabies, and they affectionately called her “Uma”. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Sheila is preceded in death by her parents; and stepson David Bragg Jr. She is survived by her loving husband, David Allen Bragg; son Eric Bragg (Rachel); daughter Erin Bragg (Cruz Compean), stepdaughter Angela Cutler (Kim Smith); brother Tim Bland (Saralyn); grandchildren Luke Bragg, Cruz Compean, Presley Bragg, Elias Compean, and a host of many other family and friends. Services for Sheila will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022, at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 West Broadway, Pearland, Texas. Visitation is scheduled from 10:30 – 11:30. The funeral service will be held at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm, at the Houston National Cemetery, in Houston, Texas.
