Obituary of Mickie Marie Maresh

Please share a memory of Mickie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mickie Marie Maresh, 56, passed away surrounded by her family on Friday, March 25, 2022. She was the most loving wife, mother, Nana, sister and friend. Mickie was born on March 28, 1965, in El Cajon, California. At 17, she made the move to Texas to help take care of her mother. After spending several years in Texas, Mickie met the love of her life, Greg Maresh, at Rich’s Dance Club when he so kindly asked her to borrow a comb (swoon). Together, they had three wonderful children: Katrina, Lauren, and Phillip. Mickie loved spending time with her family and friends. Whether she was driving a van full of kids to soccer practice or watching her grandkids play by the pool, Mickie cherished the simple, special moments with the people she loved most. She taught Early Childhood Education at St. Helen’s Catholic School and was a Youth group teacher. Mickie had a contagious smile and laugh. She radiated her positive light to those she knew. Mickie was a wonderful cook and she loved trying new recipes; she would print things that she would try to cook at home. Her most requested dish was her famous Enchilada Casserole. Mickie also had a generous heart; she enjoyed giving to others and was a member of the Catholic Daughters. Never one to just sit still, Mickie enjoyed shopping, dancing, and being active (she loved her walks). Her biggest joy in life was her family and she would allow her daughters and granddaughter to give her “makeovers”, but most of all Mickie just loved joking around and would smile saying “funny” as she laughed hilariously with family and friends. When Mickie was not cooking, working, teaching, chauffeuring kids or being a soccer mom, she loved watching Hallmark movies, especially during Christmas. Mickie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, of 30 years, Gregory Maresh; daughters Katrina Riddle and son-in-law, Reece, Lauren Maresh and soon to be son-in-law, Kenny Joe Helton; son Phillip Gregory Maresh and daughter-in-law, Kathleen; grandchildren Blane and Blair Riddle. She is also survived by her brother Ronnie Goodwin, his wife, Leslie, and their son, Zachary; nieces Caroline, Amber, and nephew Aaron Bowen. Mickie is preceded in death by her mother Patricia Collins; sister Christie Bowen and brother-in-law, Donald.
