Obituary of Ruby Ada Speelman

Ruby Ada Speelman, 101, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, April 18, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents Garland and Clara Upshaw; daughter-in-law Lilley Emanuel; brothers Dewey Upshaw, Billy Upshaw, James Upshaw, Bobby Upshaw, Charles Upshaw, Kenneth Upshaw; and sister Peggy Blevins. Left to cherish Ruby’s memory are her loving husband Robert Speelman; sons Buddy Emanuel, Joe Turney and wife, Maria; daughter Ramona Milling and husband, Truman; seven grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; two great, great, grandchildren, and a host of other dear family and friends. Ruby was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great, great grandmother, and aunt, who cherished her family. She was the matriarch of the Upshaw family. Ruby loved her family dearly and she especially enjoyed family gatherings. She was affectionately known as “Mamaw” to her grandchildren. She was also very close to all her nieces as well. Ruby always kept her home clean and beautiful. She loved to decorate. Ruby was a wonderful cook; her dressing was her specialty and family favorite. She had many wonderful recipes that she loved to share. Ruby was a devoted Christian and strong in her faith. She was always thinking of others before herself. In her later years as her body gave out her mind remained extremely sharp and clear. Ruby will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. A memorial service will be held for Ruby at 2:00 pm, on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 West Broadway, Pearland, Texas, with Brother Alfred Perry officiating.
