James “Jim” Edward Hall passed away peacefully after 85 wonderful years on April 3rd 2022 at his home in La Porte Texas. Jim was born on Oct 7th 1936 in Shawnee Oklahoma to Edward “Eddie” Gilmore and Anita “Johne” Hall. He graduated from Okmulgee High School in 1954 and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from University of Central Oklahoma (Central State College) in 1960. Jim married Mary Sue Duncan on February 6th 1960. Jim and Mary Sue raised 3 children while moving 9 times over the next 20 years. Following in his father’s footsteps, Jim had a long career in Management with JCPenney beginning in 1960. During one of his many moves, he was a buyer for the JCPenney Treasury stores at the corporate headquarters in New York City. Jim’s career included leadership roles with increasing responsibility starting in Oklahoma City OK, Shawnee OK, Tulsa OK, Dallas TX, Corpus Christ TX, and El Paso TX. Jim was promoted into store management in Lawrence KS before completing his career with JCPenney as store manager in Pasadena TX. Following JCPenney, Jim led a successful corporate recruiting company for several years before devoting his time to his various hobbies including woodworking and most of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jim was a leader in many other areas including the Episcopal Church, and the Boy Scouts. Jim also earned his private pilot’s license in 1978. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, his wife, Mary Sue Hall, and granddaughter, Christi Wynn. Jim is survived by his brother John Craig Hall (Jean) and nephew Carter of College Station Texas; Children Elizabeth Prasek (Mike) of La Porte Texas, Stephanne Soirez of La Porte Texas, Aaron Hall (Lisa) of Humble Texas; and grandchildren Michael Prasek, Steven Prasek, Katherine Valencia (Randy), Erin Stallings (Scotty), Kelli Hibbert (Justin), Nicholas Soirez, Matthew Hall (Carley), Justin Hall (Karina), and 10 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life services will be held on April 30th at 2 pm at Life Community Church, 9529 Fairmont Parkway, La Porte, TX 77571.
