Funeral arrangements changed due to the passing of wife, Carmen Tostado. A double mass for Carmen and Daniel will be held on Monday, February 7, 2011 at St. Helen Catholic Church at 11:00 am. Daniel Alvarez Tostado, of Pearland, formerly of Friendswood TX, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2011 at the age of 93 years. He is survived by his loving wife Carmen Brambila Tostado; seven children, Daniel B. Tostado and wife Janice, Diana Tostado Morris, Gloria Tostado, Ernest Tostado, Evangelina Tostado Hammonds, Martha Tostado Sparks and husband Richard, and Joseph Tostado. He has 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Daniel was the only son in a family of 6 and is survived by his sister, Julia Tostado Eberhardt and husband Andrew. He had numerous family and friends throughout the states and Mexico. Daniel was born in Palmer Lake, Colorado on July 10, 1917 to Praxedis and Maria Guadalupe Tostado. He was the only son, but had five sisters: Pomposa Tostado Gomez, Anita Tostado Garza, Soledad (Chole) Tostado Gallegos, Charlene (Carlos) Tostado Soliz, and Julia Tostado Eberhardt. At the age of one, the family moved back to Mexico. As a young man he and his father, or he alone, would return to the states to work in various types of jobs. Daniel had an entrepreneurial spirit and learned how to make a good living from a very early age, even though his education was only through the 3rd grade. Dan and Carmen married on September 18, 1942 in Ameca, Jalisco Mexico. In 1948, Dan and Carmen permanently relocated to Friendswood, Texas from Ameca. They were married for 68 years. Dan, like his father, was a rancher most of his life and served as ranch manager of the Delta L Ranch in Friendswood, which was owned by the Letzerich family, until it was sold in 1988. Dan never met a stranger and had a passion for his family and friends. He lived a robust life, had a great sense of humor and loved telling a good story. There were many parties at the ranch and many happy and memorable occasions, many of them included songs being belted out by Daniel and Carmen. Daniel and Carmen were members of St. Helen’s Catholic Church in Pearland. The family will have a viewing at Clayton’s Funeral Home at 5530 W. Broadway in Pearland, February 3, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held at St. Helen’s Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 4, followed by the funeral service at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster. Six of Daniel’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers: Danny C. Tostado, Jeffrey Tostado, Esteban Tostado, Jared Tostado, Adam Hammonds, and Brian Sparks. Additional pallbearers include Smiley Gonzales, Miguel Brambila, Martin Brambila, Albert Gonzales
