Mark Douglas Abshire, 58, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022. Born and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Mark graduated from Alleluia Acres Christian Academy in 1982 and moved to LaPorte in his early twenties. He studied welding and applied science at Lee College. Mark worked as a combo welder and in construction over the course of his life.
A caring, bighearted person, Mark was always there to help if someone was in need. He loved cooking his favorite dishes for family and friends. Mark was especially known for his Cajun cooking. He cherished time spent with his family and friends and enjoyed hosting big gatherings and taking pictures of everyone. Mark enjoyed many outdoor activities; his favorites were fishing and camping. He loved working with his hands and building things including furniture, porch swings, and club houses for his boys. Mark adored his nieces and would bake and make crafts with them. In his spare time, he loved watching old westerns like Bonanza, Wagon Train, The Rifleman. He also enjoyed old television shows such as Mash, Hogan’s Heroes and Andy Griffith. Mark will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mark is survived by his parents Paul and Vianna Abshire of LaPorte, TX; sons Jeremy Landers of Anderson, SC, Blaize Abshire of Deer Park, TX, Chase Abshire of Deer Park, TX; brother Tony Abshire and wife, Vicky of LaPorte, TX; sister Suzanne Szabo and husband, Steve of LaPorte, TX; nieces and nephews Lauren Drees and partner Nelson Detillier, Lisa Schulba and husband, Kevin, Ashley Abshire, Cody Abshire, Stevie Szabo, Shelby Abshire, Lexi Szabo, Ryli Szabo; great nieces and nephews Gavin Driver, Navyn and Nicholai Detillier, and Avery Jones, and a host of many other dear family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations for funeral expenses.
