Obituary of Gary Lloyd Mahanay

Gary Lloyd Mahanay, 72, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022. He is preceded in death by his father Ferris Lloyd Mahanay; and mother Naydean Garner Mahanay. Left to cherish his memory are his son Michael L Mahanay and wife, Amy; daughter Tanya Hanna and husband, Gordon; sister Diane Berkenmeier and husband, Roy; grandchildren Megan Mahanay, Derek Rocha, Summer Rocha, Sara Ramirez and a host of many great grandchildren, family and friends.

Gary loved his family and was a wonderful provider for them. He had a successful career with the Houston Fire Department, where he retired from after thirty-two years of service. In his spare time Gary was an outdoorsman and animal lover. He especially loved spending time fishing at his favorite spots, both saltwater and fresh water. Gary also loved working in his yard. He was a true sportsman who loved following football. He enjoyed all levels, high school, college, and professional. Gary was a 1968 graduate of Pearland High School, where he held the high jump record for many years.

Gary was known as a true prepper throughout his entire life whether it be at work, home, or planning anything. He was also a very social person who never met a stranger. Gary was strong in his faith, loved the Lord, and enjoyed serving at his church. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services for Gary will be held at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 West Broadway, Pearland, Texas. Visitation is scheduled on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2022, at 10:00 am.
