Trying to locate group photos of Jackie and her siblings, I pulled out our giant collection of old photo albums. What an emotional Walk Through Memory Lane. Photos are additive, you can’t stop looking and reminiscing. These albums are a testament that this Twiggs Family, these Siblings, even though living in scattered states, reunited with each other almost every year. And I believe that Jackie is the GLUE that kept them reuniting as often as possible. I think that Jackie would tell Al that she needed to see the Family and Al would put her wishes in motion to make all her wishes come true. Al would move Heaven and Earth for her Happiness. Year after year we enjoyed Family summer vacations at Cape Hatteras on the Outer Banks. We met up in Spruce Pine for visits and also every other year for the Young Family Reunion. We vacationed at scenic mountain locations for more Twiggs Family Reunions. Jackie and Al actually convinced Douglas (who is not a fan of flying) to agree to flying overseas with them 3 different trips, to Germany and France, to Ireland, and to Austria. Douglas was the designated driver through these countries and Al was the historian and tiur guide. Jackie and I got to be carefree tourists. We had a fabulous time on each trip and made a lifetime of fun memories. Jackie avoided a camera when she could, but she was Always Present, soaking up the companionship and filling her Heart with the Deep Love of Her Family.
I am Grateful for Jackie. I am Grateful for the many Beautiful Memories made with her. I will miss Jackie. With Love, Nancy

I had a little problem figuring out how to add the photo of Al and his sweetheart dancing at their 50th anniversary.
Sending love to the family.

Words will never express the memories and jovial times that I shared with my Aunt Jackie. Spending a summer vacation in Crofton with my cousin Alvin certainly afforded plenty of time for mischievous kids to find trouble, and of course, for Aunt Jackie to find out. Between the city pool, the Crofton water slide, Kiwanis parades, forbidden fireworks, sneaking out late at night, getting chased by golfers for snatching their balls off the course, and emergency room visits for some Maryland souvenir stitches; we were never far from a stern Jackie reprimand. For all we put Aunt Jackie through, she loved unconditionally. There’s far too many memories to share and the stories are endless, but that exactly why her legacy will always live on through those she loved. Just as sure as I sit here and write this, her compassion and love for others is surely being rewarded by the Lord Himself, and her mother, Hazel as she now sits beside both of them in praise. I miss you already Aunt Jackie and you made this world a better place while you were here. Life trickles forward for the rest of us, but thanks to you, we’ve all learned to value what’s most important in this life with absolute clarity. I am eternally grateful for the memories forged over the years and I will always cherish the love you imparted upon me and our family. In loving memory, always, Stacy

So many of my core childhood memories have Aunt Jackie at the center. Countless summer vacations in Cape Hatteras, family trips to DC to see the museums/memorials and swim at the Crofton pool, reunions in Spruce Pine, Germany & France in 5th grade, taking me to my first Shakespeare play, and “borrowing” books from her bookshelf in Pluma’s room - but only if I promised to bring them back. Even when Jax was born, she sent her copy of AJ Milne’s Winnie-the-Pooh, which I read to him from often (but I made sure to return it!!). I like to think that my love of theater and literature and the English language come from Aunt Jackie - both genetically but also from her influence. I also like to think that a little bit of my sassiness comes from her as well as remembering to always have a paper towel on the kitchen floor in case you need to wipe up something with your foot :) Being one of the younger cousins that came along when my older cousins were already out on their own, I feel so blessed that I got a lot of time and attention from my Dad’s sisters and brothers. But Aunt Jackie will always have a special place in my heart as someone who loved me a little bit extra and also challenged me. ‘Little me’ misses her terribly and ‘adult me’ will always wish we had more time together. Love you and miss you so much, Aunt Jackie

I remember Jackie and I having a continuous discussion as to which of the Gershwin concertos was the best. I have not been in touch for a long time but I will carry the memories.
