Obituary of Mary Ann Fowler

Mary Ann Houck Fowler was born on April 11, 1935, in Bernice, Louisiana and passed away on October 24, 2022, in Manvel, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, James “Garland” and Bessie Houck; loving husband, Joe Fowler; son Michael Fowler; and sister Shirley Harris. Mary Ann is survived by her daughter Julie Kae Fowler, as well as many other family members and friends.
Mary Ann grew up in northern Louisiana, and is where she met her husband, Joe. She was an active, longtime member of First United Methodist Church, Pearland, for more than 60 years. Early on in the church, Mary Ann would help with typing the church bulletins. She was also a generous volunteer to several organizations in Pearland. Mary Ann was a member of the Pearland Lioness Club, den leader for her daughter’s Girl Scout troop, and in 1987 she was honored to receive the National PTA Life Achievement Award. Mary Ann was an excellent cook and enjoyed cooking for others. She also enjoyed playing Bridge and Bunco with her friends, many of whom she had known for more than 50 years. Mary Ann will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Interment will take place at Harmony Chapel Cemetery in Hico, Louisiana on Saturday, November 12, 2022. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in May Ann’s memory to Harmony Chapel Cemetery Association, c/o Gene Foster, 2135 Hwy 545, Dubach, LA 71235
