Obituary of Susan Lee Battle

Please share a memory of Susan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Susan Lee Battle, 61, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022. She is preceded in death by her parents Clyde and Betty Wilson. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Michelle Abshire and husband, Christopher; brother John Wilson; grandchildren Megan Burns, Vera Lutiker; great grandchildren Anastasia Boomer, Lilly Laney, and a host of many other family and friends. She is also survived by her fur babies Odi and Jakie.

Susan had a genuine, caring smile and a compassionate, servant’s heart. She loved helping others and contributed to charities that supported both humans and animals in need. Susan enjoyed her work as a therapist; she worked with many different people including those who were in recovery, trauma victims, and veterans with PTSD. (She LOVED her soldiers).

Proud of her education, Susan attended college as a non-traditional student while raising her daughter. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Social Work from the University of Houston. Susan was a dog lover and volunteered with dog rescues. She also enjoyed fostering dogs, in particular Great Pyrenees.  In her spare time Susan enjoyed spending time at the beach or in the mountains. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
