Q: How would you describe Susan to someone who had never met them?
A: Susan was a beautiful lady, inside and out who loved the Lord with her entire being. She prayed for people, even as a child, and was sincerely concerned about the well being of others. She was always encouraging to others and had such a natural way of making people feel special and loved. Her sense of humor could lift one’s spirits immediately! She had such beautiful eyes and was gorgeous inside and out. We are so very sorry for her family’s loss and pray for their comfort and peace.

My husband Bennie and I were so deeply saddened by the news of Susan passing. She was such a sweet soul. I loved seeing her at the office when being seen by Dr. Barton. She always took the time to say hi and visit with me. We shared how our kids where doing and she was always so proud to talk about their girls. Even though we may not have seen each other outside of the office she made me feel like a friend with her outgoing personality. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time.

When I think of Susan, I think of 4 year old Susan. My son Charles Wayne, had just been to the dentist for some dental work. The feeling was coming back into his mouth and he was not happy. Trying to pull the crown off and crying. Jackie, Susan and my 4 year old son, and I were going somewhere. I was driving. I knew Jackie was a Christian and was forever praying about everything. She told Susan to lay hands on Charles Wayne and the two of them prayed for him while I was driving. I didn't know if I needed to pull the car over or what. I had never been around Pentecostal people before. A few minutes later he was not crying and complaining about his mouth. It is such a testament to Jackie and Susan, their faith and love for my precious child. I have always loved Susan, and well Jackie is my dearest friend. I will lift Jackie and her family up for the Lord to give them comfort and strength. He hears our prayers and sees our tears. Susan is in His ever loving arms.

The first time I saw Susan she was standing at the top of my stairs in a black pant suit, hair up with a black big rimmed hat and red lipstick. My first thought was “Who is this incredibly beautiful woman standing in my house?” About a year later she became my daughter in law. She and my son, Robert Barton were marred 29 years and brought us 4 incredible grand daughters. Susan, you will be missed but your legacy will continue on through your husband and children. Rest in eternal peace

I only had the pleasure of meeting Susan once while I was visiting her sister, my dear friend, Monica. She walked in and her beauty was stunning! Then she smiled, hugged me and said she was so happy to meet me. Most people say that, but I felt like she truly meant it with all her heart. She was a burst of energy and laughed with her whole heart!
It was already evening and dark out and we thought we were in for the night. But, Susan proceeded to try to talk Monica into going to the mall because she wanted to buy her something. With all of Monica’s pushback, there we go, off to the mall. She had us laughing the entire way there.
I feel blessed that I had the opportunity to meet her, talk and laugh with her if only for that short time.
My condolences, prayers and love to your family. I know well the piece of your hearts that will be forever missing. One day we’ll once again be together forever and our hearts will once again be whole. May God’s peace and comfort be with all of you today and always.
