Obituary of Susan Raye Barton

Susan Raye Barton, 49, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023. She is preceded in death by her father Clarence Thomas Valentine. Left to cherish her memory are her mother Jacqueline Valentine; loving husband, of 29 years, Robert Barton; daughters Brookelyn Avila and husband, Pablo, Avery Wade and husband, Kristian, Isabella Barton, Scarlet Barton; brother Clarence Thomas Valentine Jr and wife, Heather; sister Monica Howard and husband, Trevor; grandchildren Sofia Avila, Orlando Avila, and a host of many other family and friends.

Susan was a fierce and fearless soul. Any cause or person that was close to her heart, she gave every fiber of her being. Susan was someone you always wanted in your corner. She never backed down from a fight and encouraged others to find their strength as well. When you were with her you felt like you could achieve anything together. Susan had a beautiful voice. Whether she was singing original songs or speaking up for others, people always stopped to listen. She also loved to learn, and she instilled her love of learning in the people around her.

Susan never met a stranger. She had the knack of making people feel like they were the only person in the room, and you felt on top of the world after being around her. You almost never left being around Susan without laughing. She had the uncanny ability to make people double over with laughter. She was a prankster, never missing an opportunity to scare someone or pull a joke on them. Susan will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services for Susan will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023, at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 West Broadway, Pearland, TX. Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 3:00 pm. The funeral service is scheduled at 3:00 pm, with Pastor James Crum officiating.
