Obituary of Lynn Allen Revak

Please share a memory of Lynn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Lynn Allen Revak, 81, and a long-time resident of La Porte, TX, passed away peacefully at home early in the morning on January 25, 2023. He was born in 1941 in Minneapolis, MN.

Lynn is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Shirley Ann “Shan” Revak; his brother Ed Revak and wife Jody of La Porte, TX., his sisters Marge Barnes and Pat Menz; three children, Tom Revak and wife Denise Mitrano, Tracy Meek and husband Howard, Tamara Blackburn and husband B.J.; six step-children, Tom Holland and wife Kathy, Ric Holland and wife Paula, Scot Larsen and wife Yumi, Suzanne Larsen, Erika Westwood and Jeff Albro and his wife Julia. As well, he was blessed with many adored grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Lois Revak of Sacramento, CA., and previous wife Billie Carden Revak.

Lynn grew up in Pleasant Hill, CA and graduated from Santa Clara University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.   He moved to Texas in 1969.  In 1983, after working as a founding partner at I.W. Hickham Company  in La Porte, Lynn and his wife Billie founded Revak Turbmachinery Services in La Porte. The company expanded quickly, grew to over 100 employees and became a highly respected industry leader in turbomachinery services. Regarded as an expert in the turbomachinery industry, Lynn was a featured contributor at industry conferences in Europe, the Far East, and the USA, especially at the highly regarded Texas A&M Turbomachinery Symposium. The many triumphs, and the few dramatic mistakes, of his company were a reflection of Lynn’s intelligence, determination and lack of worry.

In 2008, Lynn sold his company and began traveling extensively with Shan.  In the meantime, his company produced numerous successful offshoots that no doubt were made possible in part by the inspirational example that Lynn set.  Lynn stayed engaged with the turbomachinery industry and in 2017 had the opportunity to buy his company back.  He did, but not as much for himself as for the many dedicated and loyal employees that had worked for him over the years and would work with him again.

Lynn touched the lives of so many with his friendship and loving spirit. He had a big heart and always set an example for others with his faith and generosity over the years.   In addition to his success in business, Lynn was an “enthusiast of life” with a resume that included racing cars, flying planes, skydiving, scuba diving and boating. Racing cars, if you asked him, was the most fun he ever had.  Lynn was afraid of nothing and embraced everything life had to offer.  He and Shan traveled often and all over the world, especially across Europe, enjoying fine wine, food and great experiences with family and friends both old and new. Lynn was a man of faith, a life-long member of the Catholic church and an enthusiastic member of the St. Mary choir.  We will all miss his presence here on earth, but he will always be in our hearts.

There will be a visitation and rosary service for Lynn at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception church in La Porte on Friday, January 27, 2023, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 10:00 AM with burial at Grand View Memorial Park/Bethany Cemetery on Spencer in Pasadena, TX around 11:30 AM.  Following burial services, beginning at 12:30,  a celebration of Lynn’s life will be held at Di Amici Upscale Events located at 2300 E. NASA Parkway, Seabrook, TX.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you send support in Lynn’s name to St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception church or Campus Life in LPISD through Youth for Christ Houston (c/o Frank Nance, 508 W. Main St., La Porte, TX 77571). Lynn tried hard to generously help others in need.  Doing the same would honor him.
