Obituary of Patsy Ann Hawks
"This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." John 11:25
Patsy departed this life on January 27, 2023 for glory.
She loved the Lord and gave Him praise daily. She started and ended most days if not every day with John 11:25 during her daily chats with her sister, Janet.
Patsy was born on September 17, 1949 to Harrison, Sr. and Pearl Johnson in Lafayette, Louisiana. She was one of three children.
Patsy married Sterling Hawks in November of 1971. They moved to Missouri City, Texas and to this union were born two children.
Our mom, in times of adversity, knew what to say. She was uplifting and a true fighter. She constantly reminded me that “Tough times do not last; and always recited bible passages that I will carry with me throughout all the days of my life: Psalms 121:1-8 and Esphesians 6:10-18.
Mom was the most spiritual, caring and supportive person I knew. If you were friends with her, there is no doubt that at some point she prayed for or with you. If I didn’t know the Lord, she would still be here, because there’s no way she would have left this earth without knowing that I could pray and was saved. She loved everyone, and always treated all of my friends like her own sons.
Patsy began her career as a mental health counselor and later became an AIDS counselor. She touched and impacted the lives of many through her strong faith and calm spirit. She completed theology school in 1997 and was ordained as a minister in 2004. Upon her return from Hawaii, she joined Harvest of Praise Exalted where she was affectionately known as Minister Patsy. She retired from the healthcare industry in 2016 and fully committed her time to serving God.
She demonstrated the love of God to her family and friends by reflecting the joy of the Lord wherever she went. She was a beautiful soul and had a way of making others feel more important than herself. What an example of Jesus' love that we all need to emulate. It is easy to imagine Jesus saying to Patsy, "Well done, my good and faithful servant. Well done."
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Harrison and Pearl Johnson. She is survived by her daughter, Sunnye of Rosharon, TX; her son, Princeton, Sr. and daughter-in-law, Krystal of Pearland, TX; five wonderful grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. In her final days, she found joy in the companionship of Jim Scott.
We love you and find comfort in knowing that you are at peace.
