Obituary of Muriel Dean Moore
Muriel “Dean” Moore born January 20, 1922, at the home of her maternal grandparents, Hugh and Katie Martin in Rush Tower, Missouri, to Anthony and Myrtle Martin Wilson, passed away in LaPorte, Texas, on Wednesday, February 15, 2023. Dean resided in St. Louis, Missouri until the age of 42. In 1964 she and her husband Samuel moved their family to LaPorte, where she resided until the time of her passing. Dean was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Myrtle Martin Wilson; husband Samuel L. Moore Jr.; and sister Mary W. Orr. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Karen Moore of LaPorte, Rise’ D. Hardig and husband Nicholas of League City; granddaughter Elizabeth D. Hardig of Webster, and a host of other family and friends.
Dean was employed for many years as an administrative assistant to State Representative Ed R. Watson in his district office in Deer Park. She was a charter member of the Fairmont Park Baptist Church for 42 years. In 2005 she and her husband joined the First Baptist Church of Pasadena. Dean will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services for Dean will be: Visitation: Thursday March 2nd from 6-8 pm at the Clayton Funeral Home Chapel 201 S. 3rd St. LaPorte. Service will be Friday March 3, at 11:30 am at the Clayton Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Jon Redmond officiant.
In lieu of flowers please send memorial donations in Dean’s name to the Salvation Army, Star of Hope or Wreaths Across Houston.
A private family graveside will follow at the Houston National Cemetery.
