Obituary of Anne Marie Giltrop
Please share a memory of Anne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Anne Marie Giltrop, 86, passed away June 20, 2023. She was born January 15, 1937, in Williamsburg, Vermont to Millicent Hagen and Charles Sears. Her parents died when she was very young, and she was placed in a foster school named Kurn Hattin. Anne stayed there until she was 14 when she was adopted. She would never talk about the family that adopted her because at the age of 18, when she was baptized, they severed ties.
Anne worked, went to American University, and at the age of 21 she hired a detective to find out if she had any family. To her surprise she had 3 half-sisters and two brothers. Only one of which is still living.
Anne was married in 1963, and had one child, Rick, in 1965. She loved entertaining Rick’s friends for lunch and dinner. Over the years there were numerous memorable spaghetti parties and pancake eating contests.
Anne had a servant’s heart, she worked at Covenant House for 4 years helping those who were homeless. During that time, she was able to help many people find their way off the street. Anne ended up at MD Anderson Cancer Center as a Human Resource Manager for the Department of Diagnostic Imaging for 18 years. She absolutely loved her job and always found time and looked for ways to help people. Countless employees at MD Anderson were badgered /counseled to go to college so they could get better jobs at the hospital. Anne also became a volunteer buddy to an aids patient who succumbed to the illness after battling for years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Anne is preceded in death by her parents; and four siblings. She is survived by her son Rick Giltrop and wife, Sabrina; brother Vincent Sears; and granddaughter, Chelsea Giltrop.
