I had the good fortune of having Tom as my manager while working at the space center in Houston. He was one of the best and most supportive managers that I have ever had. His contributions in that environment and to his community were many and impressive. What a role model! What a life! He will be greatly missed.

As a kid, I remember Tom at the First Presbyterian Church in Pearland where he and my parents Sallye and Edgar Fondren were members. He was a very kind and respectable person. Tom wanted what was best for everybody in Pearland and strived to grow the town in a manner consistent with his inclusive, volunteer oriented beliefs.
Tom gave of himself and his time everyday of his adult life. I know God has a place of honor at his table for a man that gave of himself so generously.
I moved from Pearland around 1990 to begin my life on my own and my parents both died a few years back, but I know that I can speak on my parents behalf and say that it was a joy to know Tom.

I may not have been a close family friend but Mayor Reid always made me feel like I was part of his circle of friends. He had the gift of making you feel like the only person in the room while you had his attention. I looked for him at any community event because his kind eyes and warm heart truly made me feel special. I am a better person having known Mayor Reid. I will absolutely miss him.

I was so sorry to hear of my longtime friends passing. As the former Mayor of Missouri City for 32 years myself, Tom and I had the opportunity to work together on City issues, legislative issues, and even just to visit. He was a true public servant and served his community for his entire life. That is dedication. He will be missed by all of those of us who had the honor to know him. RIP my friend. Allen Owen
