Obituary of Annie Jean Barfield

Annie Jean Barfield, 81, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents J.Y. Mosley and Ella Mae Barfield; Johnny Roy Barfield, Willie Solomon Barfield, Ruben Barfield, Leander Barfield; sister Elsie Montgomery; and great grandson Trey Barfield. Left to cherish her memory are her sons Jesse Barfield (Marla), Darryl Scott (Cherolynn), Eric Barfield (Samantha); daughter Melanie Scott; brothers Alvin Mosley, Jerry DeLoach, Terry DeLoach; sisters Linda Barfield (Mack), Brenda Barfield, Mary Janet Fisher, Arma Barfield-DeLoach, Catherine Moore; grandchildren Markus, Joshua, Jessica, Jeremy, Desiree, Jacob, Joseph, Jaden, Scott; great grandchildren Mia, Halle, Marley, Maia, Maddox, Jay, Ameliana, and a host of many other family and friends.

Annie was a loving and devoted mother who raised four children by herself. She cherished her children and would do anything for them. She also adored her grandchildren and loved going to their sporting events and spoiling them. Baseball was her favorite sport, and she passed on her love of it to her children. She was especially proud of her son Jesse playing in Major League Baseball. Annie was the oldest of twelve children. Because of her dedication to family, she took the lead when her mother passed away.  Annie was always caring for others and would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. Her generous spirit and loving attitude will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services for Annie will be held on Wednesday, July 12, 2023. Visitation is scheduled from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. The funeral service is scheduled at 2:00 pm, with Pastor Johnny McGowan officiating. Interment will follow at Houston Memorial Garden, in Pearland, Texas.
