Obituary of Robert "Bob" D. Jones

Please share a memory of Robert "Bob" to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert "Bob" Jones, a beloved husband, father, and pillar of our community. Bob was born on August 25, 1939, in Galveston, TX, to loving parents Rufus and Elizabeth Jones. His journey through life was marked by Faith in God, unwavering resilience, and a commitment to making the world a better place.

Tragedy struck early in Bob's life when, at the tender age of 7, he lost his father, Rufus, in the Texas City explosion of 1947. Despite this heart-wrenching loss, Bob's determination and strength of character shone through as he faced the challenges life presented him. He gracefully accepted his destiny to become very responsible at such a young age.

After graduating from Texas Tech University with a degree in electrical engineering, Bob embarked on a successful career that allowed him to provide for his family. He married the first love of his life, Annalee Mahan, in 1961, and together they raised three wonderful children: Rick, Stephanie, and Jennifer.  Bob thoroughly enjoyed being a husband, father, and engineer. The favorite part was of his career was “playing with electricity .”  Amongst electrical knowledge, Bob was known to be able to fix anything from engines to plumbing to air conditioning.

Bob's life took an unexpected turn when his beloved wife, Ann, passed away on April 1, 2001. In the face of this immense loss, Bob found his second love and companionship when he married Sandy Kelley-Jones in 2004.

Throughout his life, Bob was known for his selflessness and dedication to others. He devoted countless hours to volunteer work at First United Methodist Church in Pearland, leaving an indelible mark on his community. Even during his well-deserved retirement, Bob continued to be actively involved in various service projects, always seeking ways to give back.

One of the endearing qualities that made Bob so special was his "Bobisms." These were the unique sayings he frequently shared with friends and family, such as, "It'll get better once it stops hurting" and "As long as you're happy is all that matters." These words of wisdom served as a source of comfort and inspiration to all who knew him.

Bob's life was a testament to perseverance. He weathered numerous personal losses and adversities, emerging from each challenge with his spirit unbroken and his heart open to new experiences and relationships.

Robert "Bob" Jones is survived by his devoted wife, Sandy, who stood by his side in both joy and sorrow. He leaves behind his three loving children: Rick and wife, Rosalyn, Stephanie and her husband David, and daughter Jennifer and husband, Chris.  He also has two stepsons, Chris Breaux and wife Angela, David Breaux and wife Jennifer. Bob also has 8 grandchildren who will carry on his legacy of strength and compassion. Bob's memory will live on through the many who were blessed to know their remarkable grandfather.

As we bid farewell to Bob, we remember a life well-lived, a heart full of kindness, and a spirit that persevered through adversity. His impact on our lives and our community is immeasurable, and he will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Ann, and his grandson, Ryan.
