Hortence Mottu, 91, passed away on September 7, 2023. She is preceded in death by her parents, Liborio and Theresa Martinez; husband, Benito Mottu, married for 45 years; and son, Mark Mottu. Left to cherish her memory are her son, George Mottu; daughter, Norma Garfield; thirteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Hortence was known to her loving family as Nanny. She was ambitious in life and went back to college to get an accounting degree, to run her own business for several years. She loved keeping her mind sharp with puzzles, word finds and loved cooking meals for her entire family. Every Christmas season, she spent several hours making tamales. Later in life, she passed down her secret recipe for her family to keep the tradition. Hortence loved and cherished her family and our Lord Jesus Christ. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
