Sammi was the living example of John Quincy Adam's response of "why are you doing what you are doing?" with "Duty is ours, results belong to God." Sammi was concerned and lived what she could "do" for our nation. She was an encourager, a motivator and often a warrior behind the scenes in prayer and devotion. I recall speaking to her just before her surgery and her telling me about her visit from the hospital chaplain and him asking how he could pray for her and she responded, "pray that I will understand how God will use me through this experience." Sammi has etched the ground and the lives she encountered with the zeal and cause of liberty and those seeds will not soon be overshadowed with the results of others that she paid for the same as the patriots that came before her. I am blessed to have encountered Sammi in my life and I, my family and our nation will be the better for it. In Texas, everything is said to be bigger. Sammi is no exception and we as Texas COS are proud that Sammi received the very first Sammi Hammers Legacy Award for Vision, Humility, Service, Devotion and Faith based on Proverbs 3:6 and pray those that come after will be worthy to receive the same. Rest well my beloved friend until we meet again.

Sammi was an extraordinary woman, always cheerful and tough as nails. She and her beloved hat were lights of hope and joy at the Capitol. She meant a great deal to me, and I’m grateful for her friendship.

Sending prayers for the family. She was known through out the country in the COS family, for her fight and love of country. She inspired all of us to stay focused and steadfast to the task at hand. She will be missed, but I am happy to know she is with her Lord and Savior. God Bless her family during this time. Much Love..

What a patriot. There is no question Sammie, the "hammer", loved her country and donated hundreds of hours as her "payment" towards the cost of liberty. She will be missed, but I assure you she will hold us all accountable too!

Sammie Hammers was a true America patriot. Her cheerful, happy warrior spirit was infectious for the both Convention of States grassroots advocates, but other grassroots from other organizations who encountered her. It was one of my esteemed privileges to work side by side with her in the activism trenches.
Her friendship and fidelity to the cause of liberty welcomed many Texans to our tight knit band of constitutional-living volunteers. She fought the good fight with verve and moxy- unbeknownst to many, when she was experiencing pain.
To know Sammie has made me a better person, volunteer and friend. She will be missed by those of us waiting for our golden, glory ticket home. However, I can’t help but smile thinking about Sammie hanging out with our Founders and Savior.
Happy, joy filled and hopeful until the end, never complaining. We should aspire to be a little more like Sammie on our journey through life.
Love you Sammie! Your friend,
Tamara Colbert
COS Texas State Co-Director (2013-2018)

I meant Sammie in 2016 through my involvement with the Convention of States. You just fell in love with this woman. Her spirit was easy going yet she would stand up for what was right. She and I were some of the first prayer warriors for our state legislators and called all the offices each month to check for any prayer requests. At times even pray over the phone with a worker in the office.
Sammie’s way of viewing the world helped her to reach so many souls. She loved the Lord so deeply and he in turn used her to touch others.
We will miss her so very much! There a hole left from her departure but Heaven is better for her entrance there.
