Obituary of Nicolas Caballero Jr.

Nicolas Caballero Jr., 85, passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2023. He is preceded in death by his father Nicolas Caballero Sr.; mother Eullalia Caballero; and sister Maria Garza. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Josephine Caballero; daughter Teresa Hargett and husband, Larry; son Nicolas Caballero III; brothers Jesus Caballero, Ricky Caballero; sisters Martha Speller, Janie Perez, Florestella Luna; grandchildren Jessica, Joshua, and a host of many other family and friends.

Nicolas was a man of faith who loved the Lord and his church. He enjoyed serving as a captain for the ushers at St. Helen’s Church. Nicolas was the oldest of seven children and the patriarch of his family. Everyone in the family respected and looked up to him. He was a man of few words; however, he was extremely kind, and his door was always open to all. Nicolas had a successful career at Nabisco, where he was employed for 30 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus #8960 for 32 years and was also a Sir Knight for 29 years. Nicolas was married to the love of his life, Josephine, for almost 60 years. They loved traveling together and were blessed to have traveled all over the world. They especially enjoyed taking day trips and going to the casino together. Nicolas will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A visitation is scheduled on Thursday, October 26, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 West Broadway, Pearland, Texas. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm. The funeral mass will be held on Friday, October 27, at 10:00 am, at St Helen’s Catholic Church, in Pearland, Texas, with Father Jim Courville officiating. Interment will follow at South Park Cemetery.
