Obituary of Alejandro L. Adames Sr.

Alejandro L. Adames Sr., 90, of Houston was called home to heaven on Thursday, October 26, 2023. He was born on August 21, 1933. In Austin, Texas to Genero and Martina Adames. He is preceded in death by his parents, and loving wife, Petrita Adames.  Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Jean Silvas, Belinda Arreola, Debra Resendez and husband, Alfred; son Alejandro L. Adames Jr. and wife, Alejandra;   grandchildren Stephanie Long (Christopher), Amanda Arreola, Austin Resendez (Gabriella), Alyssa Arreola, Aejandro L. Adames III, Isaiah Adames; great grandchildren Veronica Long, Chloe Long, Thomas Vega, Eloise Resendez, and many other family and friends.

Alejandro was an extremely strong and brave man who had an impeccable work ethic. He was a wonderful provider for his family and had a successful career with Railcrew Xpress where he worked up until he passed away. Alejandro proudly served his country in the United States Army and fought in the Korean War. He loved participating in sports and in his younger years he played baseball, basketball, and was also a wrestler.

Alejandro was happily married to the love of his life, Petrita, for 63 wonderful years until she passed away in 2020. He cherished his family and adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alejandro was a man of few words, however when he did speak everyone listened. He was known to be witty, and his favorite lines were, “I stay ready, so I don’t have to get ready”, and “Bad news bears”.  In his spare time, he enjoyed watching football and baseball with his daughters. Alejandro showed great resilience in his last few months on this earth, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Alejandro on Thursday, November 2, 2023, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm, at Clayton Funeral Home, 5530 West Broadway, Pearland, Texas.
