Gloria was such a true inspiration. I got to know Gloria in an adult Sunday School class. She was so knowledgeable about so much and funny. Her laugh was contagious. I was a mother of 2 young children at the time and I loved seeing her with her family and seeing all the friends she had. I looked at her as a role model. She guided me on my first barbeque cook off, I was with her on baking potatoes and working the booth selling sandwiches and baked potatoes at a festival. I was a newbie and scared, she was such a comfort. I didnt want anyone to know that being in the kitchen was not my gift, but i just followed what Gloria did.
She is a big reason that I was able to get my husband to go visit the church we ended up becoming a member and loving to this day. This was truly the best place to be and it led us to connect with so many people.
But the most percious thing was the way she loved our family. When we found out we were expecting our 3rd child she was there to visit us to welcome sweet baby Grace. Then when I went back into the hospital with a MRSA infection, she made me a prayer shaw, which I use to this day.
And Gloria and Ken loved little Grace and she loved them. Grace would always go see them in Church and they came to see Grace in her elementary program. So incredible kind because they have many grandchildren, but they made time for her. So truly blessed God put them in our life. Thank you Gloria for being such a lovely person, I hope I can be just a little like you.

Uncle Ken, Dave, Doug, Don, Den and Valerie-
Aunt Gloria embodied the qualities we all aspire to possess-she was cheerful and humble, a gentle fun-loving soul with a heart overflowing with love, kindness and compassion.
She made everyone around her feel comfortable and at ease, mostly happy - whether it be from her smile, her infectious laugh or a funny story.
She was always a pleasure to be around. One of a kind!
She embraced her role as a loving sister, showering Uncle Shirty and Dad with affection and support. Through the highs and lows of their lives, she was there for them. Always a helpful hand to hold on to when things were uncertain or difficult. She was an inspirational presence.
My heart is heavy. She was a special lady and will be truly missed. She touched all of our hearts in countless ways. I hope you can find comfort in the memories you all share of your wife and mother - my Aunt Gloria. Carry her loving ways of kindness and compassion forward.
Much love to all of you -
Aunt Gloria’s Brother Glen’s Daughter

A smile - right now she’s probably lovingly pestering dad, trying to give him a little pinch on his behind.

Gloria was such a special person - whether with family, friends, church or community. She brought a good ear, lots of laughs and much commitment in all her endeavors. Of the many good times I shared with her are the memories of fitness walks at the old Oiler football stadium/track and events at the Dad's Club - cheering on ball teams, keeping score or working the concession. There is no doubt that Gloria's family, friends and community benefited from her special qualities. God bless. Jean "Rodriguez" Herring

We walked to school together from 1st grade to 12th grade. I waited until you ate your peanut butter toast. Sometimes we just made it to the school on time because of peanut butter toast. You were my best friend . My heart hurts. Lots of wonderful memories.

One of my favorite recollections of Nurse Gloria was the day a student brought a litter of baby rabbits to school. Needless to say pandemonium ensued as word spread among the kids. What to do? We turned them over to the care of our trusty nurse. I received permission to leave campus on a errand of mercy to purchase Gatorade to try to keep them hydrated. Sadly, we were able to save just one or two which I took home to be raised by a gentle collie. Talk about going above and beyond the call of duty! That was our Nurse Gloria.

My dear Gloria,
You were my friend and my work mate, and as much as I am going to miss you, I know your family has lost a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. You were someone very special to so many people. As part of the Dirty Dozen, we worked together, we laughed together, and we cried together. The twelve of us were blessed to have such a special bond and I am so thankful for all the years we had together. There are too many memories to list but they are all a part of me. Thank you, my dear friend, for being a part of my life. Loved you dearly and I know, we will meet again.

I will always remember Mrs. Mills as a sweet neighbor, my school nurse, and of course Val's Mom. As she walked down Churchill if she saw us out she'd wave and flash that smile ! Drew and I just loved her and were blessed by her kindness. As a nurse I admired her dedication to her practice and the love and care she showed to everyone. Prayers for the family.

Dear Mr Mills and kids,
Mrs.Mills (as we never would use her first name being from the generation we were raised in) will forever live in the hearts of our family. Mine especially.
The Brinkman Boys and the Mills kids were near inseparable most Friday and Saturday evenings in the Churchill circle. My mom and her were fast true friends. From the moment Dave and Doug came accross the street to ask if we had any kids the families were locked in joy, happiness and love. These two ladies made sure we kids survived the large amount of certain danger from some truly ridiculous activities. What can you expect from 2 families with 8 boys and one scrappy girl. They raised 9 remarkable adults between them. To me she was second mom, neighborhood triage medic, a school nurse helping helping a kid with continual stitches and broken arms. Especially when I had both broken arms she helped navigate the school day and what that entailed. With her ever infectious smile, she was forever a cohort in rascalness with me. Her humor, wit and pure Joy of life are with me, and I will carry her in my heart always!
Love to you all,
Dan Brinkman

Oh how beautiful Gloria will be missed. Those eyes she had always sparkled and her smile could light up a room. She always had a kind word for all she met and her family is what she loved the most in this world. She had a servant's heart which was evident by all of the organizations she participated in. How lucky I am to have one of her beautiful prayer shawls. And she took care of more children than we will ever know during her years at Pearland Junior High. She was so loving and gave everything she had to all of those she loved. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the family during this time of great sadness. Mary Anne McWhirter
