Obituary of Marilyn Ann Garcia
Marilyn Ann Garcia was born to George and Kathleen Miller on January 11, 1938, in Whigham, Georgia. Ann lived a life marked by boundless love, a passion for missions, unwavering faith, and an adventurous spirit. Her heart’s desire was for all her children and grandchildren to follow Jesus with their whole heart and to serve others. She embarked on her final journey into the arms of her Savior on January 6, 2024.
Marilyn Ann grew up in Georgia as the older sister to 3 younger brothers. In high school, she felt called to the mission field so Ann began her first journey to Columbia Bible College in South Carolina. It was there that Ann confirmed God’s call on her life and after graduation she embarked on an adventurous journey, leaving her home in Georgia and driving to language school in a vibrant yellow convertible bound for the country of Costa Rica. After language school, Ann served and ministered In Nicaragua and that is where she met her love, Gonzalo Garcia. Their journey through marriage was an adventurous 57 years. Together, they were blessed with a large family who were the very pride and joy of Ann's life. They made multiple moves from seminary in Guatemala for Gonzalo to ultimately landing in Pasadena, Texas. Ann retired after 35 years from teaching at Bay Area Christian School where she made a tremendous impact on so many lives as a Kindergarten teacher, Spanish teacher, and best known as the carpool driver for the girls and all their friends. So many laughs and memories were shared on those drives to and from BACS. In her years after retirement, you could find her teaching at VBS, taking mission trips to Nicaragua, talking about Jesus, business, and world events with her son, shopping at a good Macy’s sale with her friends and girls, and spending time reading and talking about life and Jesus with her 7 grandchildren. Ann’s heart for Jesus and for missions is seen in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
Her radiant smile could light up a room, and her laughter was a testament to the joy that emanated from her heart. Joy that was defined by her love for Jesus Christ. Her faith was the anchor that guided her through every twist and turn of life's journey. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, service, and devotion to her Savior. “Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little. I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master” Matthew 25:23
