Obituary of Luviminda Antonio Mejia
Luviminda Antonio Mejia passed away on January 9, 2024, at the age of 75. She was born on February 1, 1948 in Zambales, Philippines to Cresencio Antonio and Leonora Ildefonso. Luviminda is preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, and three sisters. Left to cherish Luviminda’s memory are her husband of fifty-one years, Domingo Mejia; sons, Dave Mejia and wife Donnabel, and Denson Mejia and wife Angeles; daughter, Gemma Almuete and husband Ferdinand; brothers, Jesus Antonio and wife Renzi, and Adapito Antonio and wife Iluminada; grandchildren, Denise Mejia, Eliana Almuete, David Mejia, and Aiden Almuete; along with a host of other family and friends.
Luviminda was a loving wife, mother, and friend who found great joy in giving to others. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary education in 1968 and went on to have a wonderful career teaching children. In 1971, Luviminda met the love of her life, Domingo, who was a fellow teacher. They raised three children and spent a wonderful fifty-one years together. They immigrated to the States in July, 2012. On December 28, 2022, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in Davao City, Philippines. Luviminda was a hands-on mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She also loved to garden, cook, sing, and dance. She was a member of a catholic organization in the Philippines during her active years, the Diocesan Vocation Movement, which gives support to young men in their discernment to become priests. Luviminda will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Luviminda’s funeral services are being handled by Clayton Funeral Home of Pearland. (5530 W. Broadway, Pearland, Texas 77581) A visitation will be held at Clayton Funeral Home on Friday, January 26th, 2024, from 5:30 to 8 pm, with a Rosary being recited at 6 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held the following day, Saturday, January 27th, 2024, at St. Angela Merici Catholic Church, in Missouri City, Texas. The Mass will begin at 11 am.
