Obituary of Scott Paul Dombrowski
Retired Houston Police Lieutenant Scott P. Dombrowski, 68, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2024, after a 3-year battle with cancer. He was at home, surrounded in the comfort of his family. Scott was born the middle son of three boys to Harold and Lillian Dombrowski in Chicago, Illinois, on February 10, 1955.
Scott is preceded in death by his father, Harold Dombrowski. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Lillian (Urbanski) Dombrowski; wife, Julie (Rogers) Dombrowski; son, Austin Dombrowski and wife Taylor; daughter, Tasha Beale and husband Patrick; brothers, Mark Dombrowski and wife Ann Molloy, David Dombrowski and wife Laurie; grandchildren, Owen Dombrowski, Addi Beale, Bailey Beale; along with a host of other family and friends.
Lieutenant Dombrowski joined the Houston Police Department on November 15, 1982, Academy Class #109. During his career with the department, he was assigned to the Central Division, Southeast Division, Burglary and Theft Division, Auto Theft Division, Internal Affairs Division, and finally the Robbery Division, until his retirement on March 24, 2018.
On September 29, 1990, Scott married the love of his life, Julie, just outside of Houston Texas. With their marriage, he gained a daughter, Tasha, and they had a son together, Austin, in February of 1992. He was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, friend, mentor, and neighbor. He was always present and willing to help with anything anyone may need. He had every tool, and a ton of wisdom to help his neighbors and family with all kinds of projects. In addition, Scott had a great sense of humor. He was well known in all aspects of life for his practical jokes and pranks. He could make anyone laugh.
Scott had many hobbies throughout his lifetime. During his young adulthood and retirement, you could find him fishing, hunting, shooting, hiking, and kayaking with his buddies. Some of his favorite memories came from trips to Iola, Texas with family, including his Annual Hog Hunt with his 2 brothers, Mark and David. In 2023, they completed their 31st Annual Hog Hunt.
In July of 2020 Scott and Julie finished building their retirement home which included the shop Scott had always wanted. He loved to build things and spent a lot of his retirement in his shop working on projects such as welding, wood working, and making knives. He spent the rest of his time with family, including his three grandchildren. He was their biggest fan at sporting events, and always had a fun adventure planned when they came over. Scott and Julie also enjoyed cruises and traveling all over the US, Mexico and other fun destinations with family and friends. Many times you would hear Scott say he was “living his dream.”
