Obituary of Lewis Darrell Harris
A Buccaneer with a heart of gold has received his wings “Big Lou” was called home by our Lord and Savior on January 25, 2024. Lewis was born to L.D. and Laverne Harris. He is survived by his mother Mrs. Laverne Harris of Corpus Christi, Texas, daughter Quintessa Harris, and his grandchildren, Solon Tyee M. Johnson and Cyrus K-E Johnson, Austin Texas, four sisters Ann Harris Davis, Marilyn Harris, Lillian Harris, Linda Harris, Houston, Texas, nephews and nieces, Ealy Bennett, California, Fallon Harris, Santrell Scott, Danesha Scott, Zipporah Scott, Josiah Hall, Aniya Holt, all of Houston, Texas, and a host relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father L.D. Harris.
He accepted Christ at an early age and attended Brooks Chapel AME Church and later attended St. John First Baptist Church where he learned under Rev Pullam, Corpus Christi. Lewis graduated with the Class of 1979 from Roy Miller High School where he played football as a Nose Guard and his hobbies were singing, dancing, and ministering to others along with his Masonic Hall community service. He attended Del Mar College, Corpus Christi, Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas, and Seminary College in Arkansas where he studied and loved the word of God. He was a man with a big heart, a big smile, a contagious laugh, and a hug that healed hearts.
