Obituary of Joseph Edwin Talbot IV
Joseph “Ned” Edwin Talbot IV passed away peacefully with his loving wife by his side after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia, on Monday, February 26, 2024, at the age of 79. Ned is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph E. Talbot III and Rosemary (McKenna) Bishal. Left to cherish Ned’s memory are his wife of 58 years, Sandra (Johansson) Talbot; sons, Brian Talbot and wife Linda, Kevin Talbot and wife Katie Sexe; grandchildren, Kendall Talbot, Emmy Mitchell and husband Derek, Austin Talbot, Charlotte Talbot, Bayne Talbot; and a host of other family and friends.
Ned was born in Glen Cove, NY, and attended Syosset High School where he met the love of his life, Sandra. Following high school, Ned enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966. He would be stationed in Fort Hood, TX, where he and Sandra would welcome their first-born son, Brian. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Ned and his family moved back to Long Island, NY, in 1968. While living in New York, Ned worked as a mechanic and brick mason. Later, they would also welcome their second son, Kevin.
In 1970, Ned and Sandra returned to Texas, settling in Wichita Falls. Ned returned to military service by enlisting in the Texas National Guard, and started a masonry business, T&L Masonry, with his partner Tommy Little. Ned retired from the military as Command Sergeant Major after more than 25 years of honorable service. In 2001, Ned and Sandra relocated again to Houston, TX, to be closer to family. In Houston, Ned joined Veazey Construction, was active in Knights of Columbus Council 8960, and honed his grandpa skills.
Ned’s family would like to thank the many healthcare professionals and home attendants who cared for him during the last few years of his life.
In lieu of flowers, Ned’s family asks that you consider making a donation in his memory to the Lewy Body Dementia Association or the Nantz National Alzheimer Center at Houston Methodist.
