Obituary of Michael Oladipo Aderohunmu

Dr. Michael Oladipo  Aderohunmu was born on September 27th, 1957 to the family of Late Pa Samuel Bobola Aderohunmu and Mrs. Christianah Monisola Aderohunmu in Owo, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Nigeria. He Migrated to Lagos with his mother to reunite with his father who had at the time started working with Federal Ministry of Works as a senior civil servant.

Young Michael Aderohunmu began his elementary education at Mainland Primary School, Akodu - Mushin, Lagos between 1964 and 1969, and thereafter attended Lincoln College, Isolo, Lagos between 1970-75.

 

 In 1975, he relocated from Lagos to Benin (then Bendel State of Nigeria) and started working with John Holt Plc, which was one of the largest conglomerates in Nigeria at the time. In his quest for academicals excellence, he traveled to France for his higher education at the University of Paris which in 1978, where he studied and obtained Bachelor’s degree in Economic Science and Post-graduate (Master of Philosophy) in Economic System, he further went on to earn a Doctoral degree (Ph.D.) on Economic Development in 1988. In between his academics in Paris, he was among the participants for students exchange program in 1981, where his study focus was on Corporate Finance and International Trade at Queens College, City University of New York.

 

Just a few amongst many other trainings and vocations he acquired certifications on were:

  • Project Development and Business Organization
  • A+ PC Technician Certified Training Course at the World Trade Center, New York in May 1999
  • EDC Entrepreneurship Training Workshop, Lagos Business School, Pan African University, Lagos Nigeria – 2003
  • UNDP Entrepreneurship Training on TECHNONET AFRICA in Ghana 2006
  • Global Innovation Course, World Bank Institute, WORLD BANK, Washington DC, USA in 2010

 

Dr. Aderohunmu began his professional career in 1989 with Maison De L’afrique/Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Paris, France, where he served and pioneered multiple socio-economic development and tourism projects for the African, Caribbean, Pacific and European Union countries.

He was the Managing Partner of Dudu Investment and Business Research Centre Nigeria, the company he co-founded with his late elder brother.

He was the founder and Chairman of DxPand Network, where he facilitated Network Bandwith aggregation projects for the Internet Service Providers in Nigeria.

He was the founder of Association for promotion of Nigerian Economy.

He was the founder and the 1st Deputy President of The Nigerian-Malaysian Business Council.

He also served as the Technical Adviser for The Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE) where he served as the consultant for the privatization projects of many industries in Nigeria (2000 – 2003).

 

Throughout his career he committed to research and the development of African socio-economics through Agriculture.

 

Dr. Aderohunmu was an upright and detail-oriented person. He became born-again Christian at the Redeemed Christian Church of God where he humbly served as a Sunday School teacher and committed faithfully to serve God in various capacities including evangelizing to the lost souls.

 

Dr.  had a way of influencing positive change wherever he goes and contributing to the welfare of other people around him. He would be remembered for his generosity, kindness, loving and caring person. He finally left this sinful world on the 22nd of February 2024. He was survived by two children, Setemi and Kamisi Aderohunmu.
