Please share a memory of Geneva to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Geneva Thomas Schumann passed away on Friday, May 10th, 2024, at the age of 93. She is preceded in death by her husband, Adolph Schumann; parents, John and Effie (Lummus) Thomas; daughter, Leona Kay Diehl; and nine siblings. Left to cherish Geneva’s memory are her son, Michael Schumann; daughter, Sharon Barajas and husband Al; grandchildren, Joanna Kay, Charlotte, Krystal Kay, and Jake; eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of other family and friends.

Geneva was born in Clarendon, Texas in 1931. She lived on her family’s farm there, until they lost it during the great depression. Her family then moved to Amarillo where her father was able to find work. Geneva later met Adolph at the Avalon Ball Room in Amarillo and it was love at first sight. She took great care of Adolph for seventy-two wonderful years and loved him dearly for every moment of that time.

Geneva was affectionately known as “Memaw” by her family and friends. She was a quiet and reserved individual who loved to take care of her family. Geneva especially enjoyed cooking for them on all special occasions and holidays. She always cooked enough to ensure that everyone could take a portion home as well. Geneva adored her grandbabies, and believed they could do no wrong. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
