Augustus, as a young boy, to adulthood and then a senior citizen. Throughout his life, he was an upstanding man, true to his beliefs, a firm faith in
god and a wonderful husband and father, then grand-father to his wife, Evarist, daughter Dawn and grand-son, Lucas.

Augustus was a professional long haul truck driver. The brown truck was the first one he owned. The blue truck was the last one he owned. He absolutely loved that blue truck.

Uncle Errol was such good energy, growing up whenever I heard the he would be in attendance I always lit up and had the greatest time with him. So much love to give and shared wisdom one can only witness in person. Rest in peace Uncle Errol.

Erol always supported me with my love of the game of football. Every Christmas there was a football under the tree waiting for me to open. Even though we both knew what it was, there was always a huge smile on both of our faces. That smile I later learned was, pursue your dream, I’m here with you. Lessons, are what I learned. I also remember him scolding me when we were at 7-eleven. He was treating me to a drink and nachos and I admit that I over filled my paper bowl. Nachos, cheese, jalapeños and chips fell everywhere. I was embarrassed and he was upset, he told me not to be greedy and don’t take more than allowed - take in moderation. Lessons!
Erol you are truly missed, Rest In Peace.

Hanging out with uncle Errol, whether he came to visit or we did, there was never a dull moment in conversation. When I would visit, we would play little games (my favorite was what I call the “toothpick puzzle” which I could never remember how to solve as a kid). From those memories, to making roti together with him and my mom (and talking and laughing all the while of course), I will always be thankful for the light he shed.

I will always remember when Agustus (aka Errol) and my dad Irving would get together and just talk endlessly. For a time they both worked construction together, and whenever the foreman on site would say “go get Coryatt, I need to talk with him”, they would both purposely show up together. The foreman would say “No I only need one of you”, but they both constantly did that and they both thought it was just the funniest thing. The foreman finally just said ok instead of calling out “CORYATT” I’ll call out either “young Cory” or “old Cory”. I can only imagine that it was very hard to end their shenanigans together on the construction site.

Augustus or Errol as we called him, was a great friend. We argued a lot as we both had different views and opinions. Sometimes, even though we shared common views, we would still find something to argue about, but that didn’t mean we hated each other. We both just liked to contest each other and in the end, we would acknowledge each other. He was a man with a strong sense of doing things his way but his knowledge and experience was so vast that he was seldom wrong. He loved his family and showed that in no uncertain terms, especially the closest, Veno, Dawn and Lucas. He loved to give and would continuously find something to give to even people he barely knew. He would be missed.

When we moved in next door, it was as if we had known Mr. Cory our entire lives. He immediately loved Ella and then years later, Keegan became his little buddy. Many times, there were popsicles offered before dinner, but who could ever say no to him. His love for food and cooking for others was amazing and he shared it with me many times. I still come home and expect to see him in the garage waving at me. He is truly missed. The Thorn family us absolutely blessed to know have known him and he will never be forgotten. Love, The Thorns

Thank you for always having a smile & a hug anytime I came over. You always welcomed me & made me feel at home since D & I were little girls. It matters. Thank you for the beautiful prayer card for safe driving you gave me. I’ve carried it in my wallet every day since. You didn’t have to do that, but you did. It reminds me of God’s promises & that I am cared for. Thank you. Most of all, thank you to you & Mom C. for raising D, the most kind, wise, & beautiful person in our world. Love you, Christina

I have so many fond memories of Errol but my favorite was coming to Houston for the first time when I was 14.
Errol took me fishing, took me to work with him delivering papers and played table tennis with me. It was a critical time in my life and his warmth and love he showed me - I will never forget.
May he rest in eternal peace.
Love you Errol.

Daddy,
There are so many things I wish I could say. I can't believe you're gone, can't believe Lucas has to continue to grow without his beloved PaPaw. I'm forever thankful for the long conversations we'd have about life, love, relationships...So thankful that you instilled a sense of pride and strength within me. I'm so thankful for it all. You've left a HUGE void that will never be filled, but I know I'll feel you among the butterflies and windchimes. I love you Daddy.

I moved from Trinidad to live with uncle Errol and aunt Ven in July 1999. I learned immediately that he was a no nonsense man but on the other hand would give his last dime to ensure his family was “good”. I learned many things from uncle Errol but there are two that stands out because it has been instrumental in my life.
1) you need to get a job because nobody owes you anything and you need to learn how to be responsible for yourself 2) get your own place and live by your own rules.
At a young age those words seemed tough but I later understood it was necessary. I am forever grateful for uncle Errol for ensuring I went to school, helping me buy my first car, entertaining me with his tricks, having the long chats in the garage, and so much more…..he was there at the graduations and also at the hospital after my car accident scolding me for the bad drive lol. He understood me and I understood him. I am grateful that during those long “garage chats” we were able to say our thank you and share how much we meant to each other.

Errol was a wonderful son-in-law who treated me as his own mother. He was always very kind to me and my entire family and nothing was too much for him to share.
He gave everything of himself expecting nothing in return.
His home was my home and he brought me my morning tea every morning when I visited.
He was a special human being who took life as it was - never complaining of hardship or when things did not go as expected.
An exceptional human being who loved and embraced us all as his own family.
May God shine his light on you son. You will always have a place in my heart. Blessings and Love.

It was truly a blessing to know Errol - my brother in law. He was a genuine man - no pretense. Always very helpful and a cheerful giver of his time, talents and treasure.
He embraced life with all its twist and turns, never complaining, never giving up. He loved challenges and always saw failure as an opportunity for growth and service.
An authentic human being who had a heart of gold, overflowing with love and gratitude for life and everyone who crossed his path.
Errol will be truly missed for his positive life lessons, his sacrificial love- going beyond to ensure of others comfort. A fantastic host and caregiver and all the wonderful life lessons he shared. So many words of wisdom.
Thank you so much my dear brother-in- law for all the times we spent at your home which became like our home. Nothing was too much for you to do for us. Will always remember you!
Eternal rest grant unto you and May perpetual light shine upon you. Amen

My first time meeting uncle Errol he made me feel like I was part of the family for years. I will never forget our trips to the grocery and hardware stores and long conversations about cooking. I still have my first drill he bought me. I saw firsthand from him what giving with open arms not expecting anything in return was like. Will miss you dearly, love Sunita

I met Mr. Coryat when his daughter, Dawn, was a freshman at the Lake. He was very personable! We talked about hot sauce and he sent his own personal blend to me and it was as hot as the sun! It's a story that I've told to my kids, students and loved ones. His energy was very positive. I haven't seen him in years, but that meeting left a great impression with me. Praying for the family.
