Obituary of Catherine Marie Haywood

Catherine Marie (Erickson) Haywood, 92 years, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 10^th, 2024. She was born in a small house outside of Clifton, Texas, in Bosque County on February 28^th, 1932, to parents, Clarence and Olga (Larson) Erickson. She grew up in Clifton with her sister, Wilma Jewel (Erickson) DeSoto.

Catherine attended Clifton Elementary School and graduated from Clifton High School and Clifton College. In 1954, she graduated from North Texas University with a bachelor’s degree in education. She met Mansel Haywood in Port Lavaca, Texas where she was teaching school at the time. They were married on March 12, 1955. She taught 1^st grade for 27 years. They were blessed with three daughters, Debra, Sandra, and Mary as well as one son, Ronnie.

Catherine was devout in her faith and her desire to live a Christian life. She was of Lutheran faith. She wants to be remembered for her kindness, her contentment in all circumstances of life, and her devotion to her family.

Catherin was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Olga; her husband, Mansel; and sons-in-law, Allan Schweke and Gary Stanton. She is survived by her sister, Wilma DeSoto and husband Don; daughters, Debra Haywood Schweke, Sandra Stanton, Mary Powell and husband Bubba; son, Ronnie Haywood and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Jeremy Powell and wife Lindsey, Crystal Powell McDonald an husband Bron, Sara Schweke Hunt and husband Aaron, Kayli Haywood and husband Juan, Brett Haywood and wife Alyssa, Bradley Allen and wife Felecia, Megan Haywood and husband River; great grandchildren, Dylan McDonald, Ayden McDonald, Kyrstin McDonald, Alyssa Powell, Layne Powell, Payton Powell, Evangelyne Powell, Willow Powell, Rowan Powell, Jace Howard, Ethan Hunt, Avery Hunt, Harley Hunt, Rylee Haywood, Makena Haywood, Declan Haywood, Chandler Allen, Reese Beckman; and a host of many other family and friends.
