Please share a memory of Edmond to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Edmond “Ed” James Mallet passed away on Friday, August 23rd, 2024, at the age of 82. He is preceded in death by his parents, Olide and Edmonia (Landry) Mallet; brothers, Andeal Mallet and John Paul Mallet; sisters, Louella Lormand, Sally Floyd, and Birdie Guidry. Left to cherish Edmond’s memory are his wife of 57 years, Clara Mallet; daughters, Michelle Williamson and husband Ron, Christina Campbell and husband Ed, Monique Babb and husband Chris; sisters, Grace Bush and Sister Hilda Mallet; grandsons, Christopher Legér, Justin Campbell, Hayden Williamson, Josh Campbell, and Jake Williamson; step-grandchildren, CJ Babb and wife Ashley, Kaitlin Sims and husband Caleb; step-great grandchildren, Bennet Babb, Blakely Babb, Cadence Sims, and Carson Sims; along with a host of many other family and friends.

Ed loved to hold Clara’s hand every chance he could. He would often steal a smooch when he could, even in his later years. They enjoyed traveling the world together with France holding a very special place in their hearts.  He always wanted Clara to accompany him on his business trips. Ed’s family meant the world to him; he was put on earth to be a “girl dad”. He loved his girls dearly. If you needed anything, he was there for you. He was also a good listener and shared his wisdom but let you make your own decisions.

Ed spent several weeks each summer with Clara and the girls going on vacation, camping, fishing, skiing, and swimming. He would try to make the waves especially rough to knock his kids off their skis or tubes. Ed was later blessed with 5 grandsons! When they were young, he loved getting them muddy and taking them fishing. He enjoyed taking the grandchildren to Adventure Land & the hunt for the blue eye green eyed bear. Ed supported the boys school activities and enjoyed seeing them excel or have fun doing whatever they loved. When they left, he would always give them his signature goodbye “see you later alligator”.

Ed’s love for people was evident to all who knew him. He definitely had a gift for gab. Ed enjoyed making people laugh and entertaining others came naturally to him. He never knew a stranger.  Ed prided himself on his ability to remember people’s names from the moment he met you. Dancing was one of Ed’s favorite things to do.  Dancing “The Twist” was one of his favorites and he always drew a crowd. He loved rooting for the Astros and watching the LSU Tigers and Saints football games. Ed holds the record for catching the largest Marlin in Puerto Vallarta. The fishing trips with his friends were a time he looked forward to each year. Ed enjoyed cooking for family and friends. He was known for sneaking bites along the way. Ed also had a very green thumb.

Ed was a faithful parishioner at St. Helen Catholic Church in Pearland for over 47 years. He was in the Knights of Columbus for 53 years and was previously a Grand Knight. He also lived and worked in the Pearland area, running a successful communications company from 1983 until 2006 with his partners, Jerry Welborn and Doug Lofton. Ed was extremely proud to have served in the United States Army for 3 years. During that time, he was stationed in Korea with the Hawk missile program. Ed was affectionately known as “Man” or “Uncle Man” by many of his family and close friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
