Neal was a very special man and one of my best friends. He and I retired from Fluor about the same time. I kicked my feet and worked on hobbies. Neal increased his efforts and had made his greatest success just before death. It saddens me that few people knew of his big achievement. Rest in peace, Neal. I will see you soon!

I worked with Neal in my earlier career days at Fluor. Neal was truly a visionary mind. He would come up with brilliant ideas at a prodigious rate and would go a step beyond that and immediately try to patent or publish his research. When I showed interest in one of his ideas for an arctic subsea drilling and production armored structure, he proposed we write a paper and present it at the prestigious Arctic Technology Conference. This led to two other publications and the beginning of a mentorship relationship, where he selflessly helped me navigate my early career at Fluor and motivate me to achieve great things. To this day, he remains a role model and inspiration. Rest in peace, Neal.

I owe so much of my career and personal growth to Neal. He hired me into Fluor Offshore Solutions in 2008 after months of me relentlessly pursuing a position. He saw potential in me that I wasn't able to see myself and always encouraged me. In 2011 I attended an industry presentation with Neal where a problem was being discussed. While in that meeting, I had an idea but was too nervous to speak up. When we got back to our office, I shared my idea with Neal. He told me to sketch it out, sign, and date it, so I did. Then he took this picture of me and proceeded to spend months helping me turn this silly white board sketch into a refined idea and helping me get the idea patented. Many others would have just shrugged it off, but Neal was always so supportive of young engineers and went above and beyond to help them grow and learn and feel valuable. I have missed working with Neal, but find so much joy in knowing what an impact he has had on me and many others.

Technology of Subsea LNG Pipeline with 9% Nickel Pipe - One of the countless examples of Neal's excellence in leadership, vision, innovation and technical strength. I liked every minute of working with Neal on the development of this technology. Neal and I also worked together on many other projects and the building of the subsea deepwater solutions business. Those were such great, enjoyable times.

I knew Neal for many years and worked with him on Oil and gas projects for Enserch in the Gulf of Mexico which is where we met. He was an extremely modest, unassuming and dedicated professional with unequaled work ethics. A Brilliant pipeline engineer where nothing was beyond his innovation as testified by his many patents. He will be sorely missed as one of the greatest pioneers in our industry. Our thoughts go out to his remaining family members who have lost a man we all greatly admired.

Q: How did you meet Clifford?
A: I met Neal in 1989 when I worked for Ensearch in Dallas. My department ran a project in Houston. Neal became part of that team. When I moved to Houston in 1997 I again worked wi him at Kvaerner. We never lost touch, he was a huge part of the oil and gas community. Later in 2019 he made me a job offer at P&I Energy . We were very close up to his time to return to our Lord. Neal was always smiling and upbeat. He never forgot a friend, colleague, or acquaintance. He was very kind and generous. He will be missed.
