Obituary of Judy George Tate
Please share a memory of Judy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Born Judy Ruth Stroecker, beloved mother and sister passed away on September 4th, leaving a void her family cannot fill and who will never forget the love and laughter she brought to their lives.
Judy was born in Mobile, AL on August 8, 1955 to John and Ruth Stroecker. She graduated from Theodore High School in 1973 and moved to Texas in 1975.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, John and Ruth Stroecker, sisters Ann Williams and Joyce Hill, and grandparents Albert and Erna Mae Sturtevant. She is survived by her dearest and devoted sister, Susan O’Keefe of La Porte, TX, and her three children, Heather Kocks of Austin, TX (husband Chris Kocks), Christopher George of Cypress, TX, and Michelle Bonura (husband Joe Bonura) of La Porte, TX.
Judy passed away peacefully at her home on the morning of September 4th. She is known for her unwavering loyalty to the Houston Astros and Alabama Crimson Tide, even during their leanest years. She was often heard shouting plays from her living room, loud enough to be heard at Minute Maid Park or Bryant-Denny Stadium.
More important than her fondness for the Astros and Crimson Tide was her love and devotion to her grandchildren. Judy took special joy in being MawMaw to six grandchildren. Emily Lechuga and Tyler George (children of Michelle), Yuliya George and Cash George (children of Christopher), and John Kocks and Matthew Kocks (children of Heather). She was a cherished figure in their lives. They felt her unconditional love as she cheered from the sidelines, called to ask how their day went, and even attended each of their first day of Kindergarten.
We will miss you tremendously.
