Obituary of Ernest "Ernie" Smith III

Ernest “Ernie” Smith III, age 65, went flying with angels on September 21, 2024 in Morgan’s Point, TX. Ernie was born August 21, 1959 in Stephens County, Toccoa, Georgia to Ernest Smith Jr. and Lavon Minnie (Dodd) Smith. Ernie “Stud” excelled in cryogenics plant operations and retired from Air Liquide just shy of 37 years. He loved singing, playing pool, fishing, hunting, watching nature and was an avid gardener.

Ernie is survived by his wife, Debra LuAnn Phelps; his sons, Ernest Smith IV and Timothy Stillion; grandchildren, Jacob Alex Reed and Adrian David-Blaine Stillion; his best friend, Barry Holkan which he considered his chosen brother as well as numerous friends, also chosen brothers, from Air Liquide; and fur babies, Hemingway and Harley.

A celebration of life will be held on November 2, 2024.
