Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

JAMES (JAMIE) STINSON SYMON, 65, passed away after his battle with cancer on October 12, 2024 in Houston, Texas.  He was born on April 17, 1959 in Yokosuka, Japan where his father was a doctor at the Naval Base. Jamie wasn’t born in Texas, but he got here as fast as he could.

He is preceded in death by his father, Dr. Joseph Symon; mother, Claire Symon; stepmother, Dr. Diana Alves-Symon; sister, Jennifer Symon Parrish; and sister, Julia Symon Kantz.  He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Symon; son, Laramie Simons (Spokane, WA); son, James Symon and wife Corinna (Alvin, TX); daughter, Jordan Barrett and husband, Tyler (Orlando, FL); brother, Jeff Symon and wife, Lorie (El Dorado Hills, CA); and brother-in-law, Mark Parrish and wife, Gina (San Antonio, TX).  He had four beautiful grandchildren, Jackson Simons (age 11); Ryleigh Claire Symon (age 6), Rhett Stinson Symon (age 4), and Claire Josephine Barrett who graced this world the day before he passed.  He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Jamie’s parents moved to Texas when he was just a toddler with four kids in tow.  He was a graduate of Alvin High School class of 1977. Jamie and his wife, Sandra, met in Alvin in 1984 and never looked back.  They celebrated 37 years of marriage on September 26, 2024.

Being an expert outdoorsman was one of Jamie’s greatest qualities. Jamie could be found in Sargent, TX during the summer fishing or at the deer lease during hunting season. He loved spending time with his buddies down in Sargent and was a generous participant and supporter of any BBQ cook-off and fundraisers there.  He was accepted by the residents there as a “local” and not a “weekender” which was especially important to him.  He loved being out in the boat just for a cruise or catching fish.  His other love was being at the deer lease with his family and his hunting “Amigos.” Another passion of his was raising Santa Gertrudis Cattle. He enjoyed being on the tractor or with his cows loving life. One of his proudest achievements was when he and his daughter, Jordan, produced a Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Grand Champion in 2009.

Jamie knew no stranger.  Once you met him, you felt like you had known him all your life.  His true passion was spending time with his children and grandchildren.  He loved hearing his grandchildren call him “Paw Paw.”

Jamie was a District Sales Rep for Ben E. Keith Foods where he thrived and touched the lives of so many of his customers that became great friends.  It was not just a job to Jamie; it was a way of life for him.

Jamie touched so many people and will truly be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, friend and buddy.
